My name is Carlo Antonio Oller. I am a board certified emergency physician who has now been in practice for 14 years or so. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where I went to the UPR School of Medicine and graduated Magna Cum Laude and in the top 5% of my class (AOA - medical honor society). I then went and did ER residency at Saint Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and served as Chief resident during my senior year. I moved around and have worked in teaching hospitals, some rural hospital, large mega-ERs before settling in Cartersville, GA where I practice full time now.
About 6 years I started my YouTube channel (theEDexitVideo) because I came up with the idea of creating patient education videos about ER conditions, procedures, and medications. I called it EDexitVideo (www.patienteducation.video), because they are ED (emergency department) discharge (or exit education) in video format. I created a master list of the diseases and conditions seen in the ER and started the daunting task of creating a video for each and every one of the ones I could think of.
I posted a video of an abscess drainage, and that was my first viral video which made me realize that people were indeed wanting to watch medical procedure content. I started then recording, editing, and posting actual patient procedures and my channel exploded way beyond my expectations. I now have more than 180,000 followers and 90 million views!
So, even though I am not working at a teaching hospital I have managed to channel my passion for education into this YouTube library that now has more than 1,600 videos.
I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I enjoy making them!
